Aimée (Port Townsend) is a musician, song-leader and storyteller. She has an invigorating teaching style, and “got pocket” percussion and guitar skills. Aimée’s work as a song-leading and storyteller have woven her into an ever widening community of cultural shifters around the country in the realms of sustainable agriculture, alternative education, community living, healing, creativity, and spiritual exploration – all of which are reflected in the songs that she carries. Michael (Santa Cruz) writes music for the soul that is meant to inspire and transform. After the sudden passing of his mother a few years ago, he started searching for meaning in his existence. The age old questions of, “why am I here?” and “what’s my purpose in life?” consumed him and so his spiritual journey began. Laurence Cole (Port Townsend, WA) leads group singing at festivals, fairs, conferences, and convergences. Part of his mission is to re-acquaint people with their birthright and natural ability to make beautiful and meaningful sound together. Most of the songs he has written are short, easy to learn, chant-like songs with several layers that fit over and around each other in interesting and pleasurable rhythmic and harmonic challenges that make them fun to sing. Karly (Eugene) has been intentionally collecting and carrying songs for community since 2004. She aims to have a song for every occasion, including threshold songs for the Red Tent (sexual healing, conscious conception, moon-time, birth, Divine Mother), death, and heartfelt community. A graduate of the Community Choir Leadership Training, Karly leads two groups in the Ubuntu Choir Network, and has lead songs at every Singing Alive, since its inception.

She loves to sing in circle with others and share the gift of soulful connection through song. She has been inspired and influenced by Mamuse, Ayla Nereo, The Be Good Tanyas, Rising Appalachia, and earth spirit songs learned in the context of women’s circles and time alone in nature.

Rachel sings and plays Celtic and folk music on guitar and mandolin with her husband, Steve Coulter, and plays in a couple of local bands, “Boss Tim and the Laylows” and “The ‘Dooners”. She has taught singing workshops at Redwood Music Camp, Lark in the Morning and Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. She also writes songs in the mountain tradition.

Jennifer (Berkeley) is a unique blend of singer/ songwriter, producer, and activist. Over the course of ten albums, she has developed and explored recurring themes with a rare wisdom. Her lifelong involvement in environmental, women’s, and other justice movements as well as an interest in Buddhism and earth-based spirituality are at the heart of her songwriting. She has produced large scale multi-cultural ecstatic musical events. She teaches “The Healing Ecstasy of Sound” at the California Institute of Integral Studies, exploring music as a spiritual practice from a wide range of cross cultural, traditional and contemporary perspectives. Kate (Inverness) has been leading community singing for over 40 years. On March 21st, 2000, she founded the first Threshold Choir. Since that time she has facilitated the creation of a network of generous, bighearted singers and the collection of a huge repertoire of original songs that are offered at many kinds of thresholds; songs of spirit, inclusivity and truth. When she discovered Singing Alive 7 years ago, the flame of sacred song was rekindled and her path as a song carrier was illuminated. Through her participation in this community she learned the art of song leading and refined her skills through much dedication and practice. Holding and sharing songs is the greatest honor to Leora, and her favorite way to serve community.
